This one is "Portrait Journalism" at it's finest! We love doing fun shots like this -they're fun to do at the time and they are forever fun to look at. Everyone's personality is captured and I can't look at this one without a chuckle.

Yesterday was our “got engaged” anniversary! On April 5, 2001 Alex surprised me with a very sweet and fun proposal. It was our Jr. year at UCSD and we were out with a big group of friends celebrating Alex’s birthday at one of his favorite restaurants, Claim Jumpers. It was a fun night that turned into one of the greatest nights of our life!!! Towards the end of our meal he stood up and made a little toast. He talked about his life and his goals, ambitions, etc. He then said his best friend had asked him what he wanted for his birthday and then he turned to me with a ring and said that he just wanted me to say “yes.” We had a fantastic wedding on October 5, 2002. We now have two beautiful daughters and we have a blast with our photography business that we started together in 2005! The past nine years have been wonderful and I cannot wait to see what great things the next nine will have in store for us!
One of the best things about wedding photography is getting to relive the excitement of this time in a couple’s life and knowing that you are documenting it for the generations to come is an honor we are so blessed to have. And often we are there for our wedding couples as they grow their families and welcome the sweet new additions with maternity, newborn and family photography.
Okay on with the giveaway info!!! From today through Wednesday, September 1, 2010 we will be taking applications from couples who are getting married some time next year (from 1/1/11-12/31/11). On September 5, 2010 we will post our 3 finalists on our blog. We will do an engagement session with all 3 couples (each couple will have a private engagement session) and we will select images from each session to post on our blog. On our wedding anniversary, October 5, 2010 we will announce the winner on our blog!!!
Our winning couple will receive 6 hours of coverage on their wedding day; a custom designed album; one enlargement from their engagement session to be displayed at the wedding reception; images on a disc to print from and a few fun extras!!!
A few more details, the winning couple is not required to pay us one cent for their FREE package, but most certainly can purchase additional hours, products and prints. If the wedding is outside of Bakersfield, Ca we will work out reasonable travel expenses for the winning couple to pay. If a couple who enters the giveaway chooses to book with us before the winning couple is announced their package will be upgraded to reflect a similar value in the upgrades.

Join us NEXT weekend -March 27 &28 for Easter Portraits. No appointment necessary! Just show up ready for portraits at 1608 19th St -Downtown Bakersfield- we’re inside Ellie Jaye’s Baby Boutique. Packages are from just $30.00 (the packages include the session!). Saturday the 27th we’ll be doing the sessions (which take about 15 minutes) from 11 AM to 4 PM and then on Sunday, the 28th we’ll be doing them from 2 PM to 4 PM only. This spring Solorzano Photography is participating in a national baby and child portrait contest! Now through the end of May we will be doing special sessions for this contest. There will be four photo categories each with First, Second, and Third places, as well as two Honorable Mentions. Cash prizes for these winners include $2,000 for First, $1,000 for Second, $750 for Third, and $500 for each Honorable Mention. One portrait will also receive the highest of accolades — Grand Prize Winner. The cash prize will be $5,000 for this lucky winner! All cash prizes will be given to the families of the winning portraits.
Entry fees for this contest are $75.00 for the first child entered; $25.00 for each additional child entered.

- A pre-session consultation to discuss winning ideas for your child(ren)’s session*
- For each image entered into the contest you will receive an 8×10 print
- Also, we will be donating $25.00 of each $75.00 entry fee to help a local family adopt a baby girl from China!
