I have had this idea for a fun blog post since we worked with the Altamarino Family in December last year. When planning for the session, Linda and I discussed how her daughter has had a terrible time with getting her pictures taken in the past. She said her last experience (before us) ended with her crying so much she made herself sick.
We are normally very aware that for most young children it’s a scary experience and we need to make them feel safe and comfortable with us. But this was obviously a special case. One of the hopes (besides not having tears -or worse) was to get photos of just their daughter.
We not only succeeded in not having one tear, but we also got a few great pictures of her all by herself. But it took some time and one fun idea:
We let her take a picture of her mommy and daddy. Alex set all up for her and we let her have some fun. I worked with her to try and get her daddy to smile bigger for her and it was really a lot of fun for all of us. She got to touch our gear and work with us in a way that she had never got to with another photographer.

I think she did a great job! Who knows? -She might be our biggest competitor in 20 years!
