Congratulations Lorenzo & Sara

We have not been keeping up with our photography blog at all this year. Forgive us -it’s been a very busy year! We are making a lot of changes on our business -all of which are very exciting. So blogging -something we were never good at keeping up with has been low down on our to-do list. But we assure you we are still in business and going strong! We are focusing on new products, new equipment, redefining our style and generally how to better embrace our artistic talents to best celebrate the love our wedding couples and families share.

We want to post some images and the slideshow from Sara & Lorenzo’s (our giveaway winners) wedding. I am meeting them in just a few hours to see their images for the first time during a Preview Reception (contact us to learn more about Preview Receptions).

Lorenzo & Sara originally planned a local (Bakersfield) wedding. When they called to say they decided to have it in San Diego -with the reception being at a new (and very posh) venue -The Loft @ UCSD (where Alex & I graduated) -we were THRILLED! It was great working with Sara and Lorenzo to plan the timeline and photo events of the day. (A part of why we decided to do this giveaway is because we wanted a day of full artistic documentation control -and they excitedly agreed!)

I have to say that the images from their wedding day are truly some of my absolute favorite from our portfolio (and that’s saying a lot -given we photographed our first wedding in May of 2005). There was no shortage of beautiful backdrops that San Diego offers (we had a hard time narrowing down locations to shoot -San Diego is large and they did have guest to keep in mind). The beautiful venues (ceremony at Balboa Park and reception at The Lof @ UCSD) and dedication and talent of their florist and coordinators -we feel like we won a giveaway! The joy and excitement of Sara and Lorenzo just made the day all the more fun and inspiring.

In Memory of Nedie Garza

This breaks our hearts to write, but this was one entry we had to post. We know we have not updated our blog in months, but earlier this week our hearts were broken with the tragic news that a beloved bride of ours, Nedie Garza, passed away. Nedie had been battling a rare cancer (germ cell carcinoma). She caught a blood infection earlier last week and her weakened body could not fight it off.

As photographers we’ve been blessed with many wonderful couples and families to photograph. But Nedie and her husband, Jesse were a photographer’s dream! They were not only photogenic and fun –they were the type of couple we could see ourselves becoming close friends with.

Sadly, not much time passed between Jesse and Nedie’s wedding and her diagnosis. So many couples take their vows, fully intending to love and honor “for better or for worse” –but none ever imagine the worst would be just around the corner. Jesse stayed by his bride’s side, loving and honoring her through each day.

Nedie was such an adventurous, fun, playful and loving person. She was a joy to work with from the first day we met to the last email she wrote. We are so honored to have worked so closely with Nedie on her wedding day. On a day of such emotion and anticipation –she only had love for her new husband, care for family and uncontainable joy to express.

Jesse and Nedie’s photos have touched so many and we will always keep their dearly loved engagement photo (taken on the “Tea Cups” ride at Disneyland) on our website to honor the memory of Nedie and their joyous devotion to God and each other.

A special note to Jesse and family: We are truly at a loss for words, but we wanted to honor her on our site. Your loss is great, but we know the impact she has had (and will continue to have) on your lives is even greater! We are praying for you all and we will never forget Nedie.
